Methane purification plant: Rivoira Gas Excellency

Designed to meet the globally growing demand for worldwide CERTIFICATED PURE METHANE, the current methane purification plant in operation at the RIVOIRA GAS of Chivasso premise is the only source of pure methane available in Europe, able to produce, in a continuous round-the-clock process, any purity titration, up to 6.0 grade (equivalent to a purity> 99.9999%).

The methane purification plant of Rivoira Gas is formed by a series of active carbon and molecular sieves units that can retain at a preliminary level sulfur compounds, humidity and CO2 contained in the network methane, as a plant power source.

Subsequently, the methane, by means of a double cryogenic fractioning column, undergoes a further purification process, designed to remove the existing incondensable gases (mostly nitrogen) and residual hydrocarbons such as ethane, propane, etc.

Once the purification process is complete, the methane is gasified through air exchangers downstream of the fractioning columns and, in order to complete the cycle, they are compressed into cylinders and packs of the desired purity.
